I'm having a hard time thinking about transitioning back to real pants. If you see me at the office and I am wearing a long flowy dress you know why. I honestly I haven't even eaten badly except for a few days over the holidays but I feel it. In my energy, my clarity and in my pants. [Full disclosure: As I write this blog post I am snacking on my very favorite chocolate almond toffee from Colorado, thanks Gran!] Even after just a few days of giving in to the goodness I crave sugar. Ridiculously. At 7am. It's a problem and I don't think I'm alone. Our bodies quickly become programmed to make us reach for our weaknesses. Many of these foods break down into morphine derivatives in our brain, so it's no wonder the urge to eat them is so strong. But the good news is there is a pretty darn short, quick and minimally painless way to reset ourselves back into control. It's taken me years to find the right balance of doable. Really, much of it is letting go of some of my all-or-nothing, black and white thinking of "if I can't do it perfectly, I won't do it." Who needs that voice in their head??
Want to join me? Find out details below.
The basics: a three day reset from January 3nd-5th.
Green Juice: During this time we'll be drinking mainly green juice and we'll add in a little bone broth in the evenings. Green juice is packed full of nutrients and is easily absorbable without your body needing to much work. It's truly the easiest way to supply your body with nutrients.
Bone Broth: The health benefits have been well established in the medical community and range from gut healing activity, boosting the immune system to helping reduce aging and inflammation. We will utilize bone broth in our reset by drinking it in the evenings for "dinner." I'll add my go to recipe to my blog tomorrow, InstaPot lovers, you're in luck. I also buy this from People's Pharmacy if 're located locally in Austin.
Coffee: Lastly, the thing that keeps me from juice fasting when I'm considering it, is usually the extreme effects of caffeine withdrawal. I mean, it's terrible. And I love coffee. So after a few years I asked myself, wouldn't it be better for me to do juice cleanses more often but continue drinking coffee, than to not do them at all because I can't have my cup-o-joe? The answer I gave myself was a resounding YES! And then I thought, what if other people are struggling with this same thing? What if the only thing standing between you and your next step in your health journey is your inability to give up coffee? I don't want that to be the case. Surely I'm not alone in this. Tell me I'm not alone in this. Either way, I guess I get my cake and get to eat it too. Or drink it, whatever.
Have I convinced you yet? Have you done one of these before? If so, tell me about it in the comments section.
